Should Christians Support President Obama - David Barton Replies

“Should Christians Support Obama?”

Dr. David Barton is a premier historian on American History and a widely sought-after biblical speaker. He is famous for his knowledge of historical facts as well as biblical truths.

Dr. David Barton - on Obama

Respect the Office? Yes.

Respect the Man in the Office? No, I am sorry to say.

I have noted that many elected officials, both Democrats and Republicans, called upon America to unite behind Obama.  Well, I want to make it clear that I AM NOT uniting behind Obama!

I will respect the office which he holds. I will acknowledge his abilities as an orator and politician and I will certainly pray for him, BUT that is it.  I have begun today to see what I can do to make sure that he is a one-term President!

Why am I doing this ?

It is because:

- I do not share Obama’s vision or value system for America ;

- I do not share his Abortion beliefs;

- I do not share his Marxist-style concept of re-distributing wealth;

- I do not share his stated views on raising taxes on those who make $150,000+ (the ceiling has been changed three times since August);

- I do not share his view that America is Arrogant;

- I do not share his view that America is not a Christian Nation;

- I do not share his view that the military should be reduced by 25%;

- I do not share his view of amnesty and giving more to illegals than our

  American Citizens who need help;

- I do not share his views on homosexuality and his definition of marriage;

- I do not share his views that Radical Islam is our friend and Israel is

  our enemy who should give up any land;

- I do not share his spiritual beliefs (at least the ones he has made public);

- I do not share his beliefs on how to re-work the health-care system in America;

- I do not share his Strategic views of the Middle East; and

- I certainly do not share his plan to sit down with terrorist regimes such as Iran.

Bottom line: my America is vastly different from Obama’s, and I hold a high obligation to my Country and my GOD to do what is right.

For eight (8) years, Liberal thinking in our society, led by numerous entertainers who would have no platform and no real credibility but for their celebrity status, have attacked our nation’s foundation and its spiritual beliefs!

They have not moved toward the center in their beliefs and their philosophies, and they never came together nor compromised their personal beliefs for the betterment of our Country!

They have portrayed my America as a land where everything is tolerated except being intolerant!

They have been a vocal and irreverent minority for years!

They have mocked and attacked the very core values so important to the founding and growth of our Country!

They have made every effort to remove the name of GOD or Jesus Christ from our Society!

They have challenged capital punishment, the right to bear firearms, and the most basic principles of our criminal code!

They have attacked one of the most fundamental of all freedoms, the right of free speech!

Unite behind Obama? Never!

I am sure many of you who read this think that I am going overboard, but I refuse to retreat one more inch in favor of those whom I believe are proponents of evil!

PRESIDENT BUSH made many mistakes during his Presidency, and I am not sure how history will judge him. However, I believe that he weighed his decisions in light of the long established Judeo-Christian principles of our Founding Fathers!

Majority rules in America, and I will honor the concept; however, I will fight with all of my power to be a voice in opposition to Obama and his “goals for America …”

I am going to be a thorn in the side of those who, if left unchecked, will destroy our Country! Any more compromise is more defeat!

I pray that the results of this election will wake up many who have sat on the sidelines and allowed the Socialist-Marxist anti-GOD crowd to slowly change so much of what has been good in  America!

GOD bless you and GOD bless our Country!

Earon James: Living Free...For Real Pt. 1

earonjames:

As a youth pastor I have noticed a disturbing trend. In our rush to have successful youth ministries we sometimes end up teaching young people how to modify their behavior instead of living out true freedom. With good intentions we push the Christian disciplines of bible reading, prayer, fasting,…

Atheism

The belief that there was nothing. Nothing happened to nothing causing nothing to explode. When nothing exploded, it created everything. Some of everything then rearranged itself for no reason whatsoever into self-replicating bits which turned into dinosaurs.

Makes perfect sense.

Without such brilliant scientific reasoning, gullible people like us would believe God exists or some ridiculous notion like that.

A Prayer for Our Great Nation

As we come to the end of this year, I pray that this prayer by Billy Graham will be the cry of every believer as we seek God for His mercy and press forward to carry the message of the gospel to our generation.

“Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good,’ but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics.. We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. Amen!”

Christmas Angels

Today I heard what I’m sure was the sonic blast of this year whizzing past my head at a record-breaking rate as I ventured into the mall to have a battery installed in my watch. When I walked through the doors, I was greeted with the sights, sounds, and smells of the approaching Christmas season and was smacked upside the head with the realization that we were already approaching the final lap of 2011. With every step, Holiday spirit was being forced upon me like the clip-on tie and patent-leather shoes you were required to wear for family photos as a kid.  As much as I love Christmas, it just seemed way too early this year.

As I looked past the unending mallway kiosks filled with way-too-eager sales clerks fondling red Starbucks cups, and still struggling with denial, a decorative menagerie of ceramic angels caught my attention.  I am always amazed how we make angels look like pale-faced members of a Victorian choir with wings attached at the shoulders.  Thinking back to the “angel encounters” of scripture, I am pretty certain that the shepherds on that first Christmas weren’t thinking about what cute, ornamental decorations they could create to remember the occasion.  I imagine their memories more likely included washing out their soiled underpants the day after.  Regardless, I walked over to the pristine angelic display and took a closer look.

Before I am detested as a Christmas-hating scrooge, I am not suggesting that you should throw away your nativity sets and burn your Christmas decorations.  I simply want to point out that angels are not people with wings.  Angels are heavenly beings. And when an angel shows up on the scene, it is an awesome and often alarming event. An angelic encounter generally begins with the words “Fear not.”  Holiday angels look as if they should say “There, there.” This is not to say that Angels cannot bring comfort and minister to people, nor that Angels are not spectacular and beautiful, but there is always a divine purpose connected to an angelic appearance.  This divine and powerful purpose of angels is to “announce” – and to declare the glory of God.

So, when you see an angel represented this Christmas, look past the decoration. Look past and let the angels continue to announce what they announced more than 2000 years ago: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.”  Throughout all the minutia and business of our lives, the hope of man is still found in this resounding echo of the hosts of heaven, the message that our salvation is both God’s Glory and man’s peace. Angels declared it that first Christmas, and still declare it today. And because of that divine announcement, we can celebrate!

The Fear of God

I recently returned from taking my daughter to Arizona to visit the place where she was born. While we were there, the two of us went up for a day to the Grand Canyon. Pictures never do justice to the vastness and awe of this natural beauty. A person has no idea what thoughts and emotions can enter one’s heart until he experiences a stagger along the rim of the canyon in person. Beyond that, being there with a highly adventurous child who wants to skip and run as close as possible to the canyon’s edge evokes an even greater sense of vigilance and protective caution that remains constant with every step. Accordingly, as though there was a script written for every father to follow, I joined in a chorus of other parents barking metered orders and safety instructions upon every new bend in the trail. My verbal sway was met with a variety of responses from my daughter ranging from affirmative nods to quick retorts of assurance punctuated by rolled eyes. Without realizing it, I was experiencing the “fear of the Grand Canyon.” I loved its beauty and reverenced its vast scale, but I took every step and made every decision with caution because I could see the possibility of my demise and the demise of my child if we were to venture outside the boundaries of the trail. In truth, you can really never experience the ”fear of the Grand Canyon” until you’re standing on its rim looking over into its vast crevice. As I did my best to make my daughter aware of the “fear of the Grand Canyon” I was experiencing, I began to think about the fear of God.

We don’t teach our children to fear a “kind grandfather” or “Santa Claus.” Why then would we teach them to fear God? To begin with, a comparison of God with Santa Claus is degrading nearly to the point of heresy. As one man said, “The sentimental view of God we too often portray generates a deity with all the awesome holiness of a cuddly toy.” However, it is important to understand that fearing God is not exactly the same as being afraid of God. The person who fears God, in somewhat the same way as I feared the Grand Canyon, comes to recognize his humble smallness next to God’s vast glory, majesty, dominion, and power. This recognition then instinctively affects every decision, act, and step of that person’s life. The person who fears God recognizes that He is not only admirable and praiseworthy, a giver of all good things, and a lover of children, but, He is also the Lord of the Universe, the One who has the power to create, and the One who has the power to destroy. He is the One who rewards, and also the One who disciplines. A person who fears God has seen his majesty and awesome power in a proximity that affects every part of his being. Although God is gracious enough to make himself available to us in relationship, the fear of God, in other words, is the sobering recognition that He is not to be trifled with. In the same way, to walk outside of the fear of God is no less foolish than to walk blindfolded along the rim of the Grand Canyon.
